Full Professorship (W3) in Sociology

The Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne seeks candidates for a Full Professorship (W3) in Sociology.

Starting April 01, 2013.

The University of Cologne is one of Germanies largest universities. Its Institute of Sociology was established in 1918 as the first of its kind in Germany and has developed a strong tradition in theory-based empirical research ever since.

We invite candidates with strengths in both sociological theory and quantitative empirical methods, shown by an excellent track record of publications in leading international journals. Successful candidates are expected to head and develop further the Faculty « Research Training Centre for Media Sciences » (MLFZ).

Candidates are expected to offer courses in German and English at B.A. and M.A. levels. They are also expected to participate in the Research Training « Group Social Order and Life Chances in Cross-national Comparison » (SOCLIFE), which is part of the Cologne Graduate School in Management, Economics and Social sciences (CGS).

The qualifications required are a university and PhD degree and excellent academic achievements and teaching abilities (36 HG NRW).
