Jorge Inzulza Contardo : « Post earthquake effects and latino gentrification in Chile: waiting for the social ‘aftershock’ response ».
Jorge Inzulza Contardo is an architect and professor at the Universidad de Chile/ Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo. He is currently at the Global Urban Research Centre (University of Manchester) where he is carrying a research on ‘Regenerating and reconstructing with Latino-gentrification? Towards a sustainable planning framework for intermediate cities at the Global South’.
Inzulza Contardo works on gentrification, urban regeneration and planning in a comparative perspective. He recently published (2012) ‘Latino Gentrification’? Focusing on physical and socioeconomic patterns of change in Latin American inner cities’, Urban Studies, (49) 10.
Discussants
Lydie Cabane is a post-doctoral fellow at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques Bordeaux, LAM, specializing on the management of health risks and disasters, with a particular interest in the role of science. She obtained her PhD in sociology at Sciences Po in 2012 on « Governing disasters in South Africa. »
Vicente Ugalde is professor at the Colegio de Mexico (COLMEX), Center for Demographic, Urban and Environmental Studies. He is interested in local governance, environmental policies and environmental law, and he has researched on waste management policies and conflicts in Mexico. He recently published « Les déchets dangereux au Mexique. L’étude de la politique par le droit », Éditions Universitaires Européennes, 2011.
