F. Word Video Favorite: A Day In The Life of Nairobi’s “Boxgirls”
Broadly recently produced this incredible docu-short about Nairobi’s female boxing scene. “Boxgirls” tells the story of a young group of Kenyan women who, as part of a local outreach program, spend their free-time boxing in their neighborhood gym. For this inspiring group of women, boxing is not only a way of protecting themselves against rape – a common phenomenon in the Nairobi community – but also a tool for developing self-confidence and breaking gender barriers.
