The media were roused by Apple’s keynote yesterday. Apple announced the new iPhone with 2 different sizes, iWatch, its first wearable device, and also Apple Pay, which is now only available in United States. But for lovers of online TV streamings, iPhone 6 and its larger size buddy iPhone 6 Plus are the main concerns. “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are the biggest advancements in iPhone history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, at Apple’s Keynote event yesterday.

What does it mean for our TV steaming fans? Does this mean iPhone fans can finally enjoy TV / Video streaming through their beloved devices? Can your future iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus be your ideal device for TV Streaming? To help you make the decision, let’s look at closely some of their features.

First, larger screen. In terms of entertaining, it’s always the bigger the better, and the higher resolution the more enjoyment. The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have both featured a larger screen size compared with iPhone 5s. iPhone 6 features a 1334 x 750 resolution, providing 38 percent more viewing area than iPhone 5s, while iPhone 6 Plus features an even bigger 5.5-inch Retina HD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, providing 88 percent more viewing area and nearly three times the pixels than iPhone 5s.

Second, Retina HD displays. Apple says the new retina screen contains more advanced technology. It provides “higher contrast for deeper blacks and dual-domain pixels for more accurate colors at wider viewing angles”. It basically means that you can have better visibility of screen in a sunny day outdoor, and that you can watch movies on your iPhone 6 or 6 Plus no matter how you hold it. It could be good if you want to watch a movie with it on bed. However Apple’s Retina HD, which offers 400 PPI, is not the state-of-the-art anymore. Many of its competitors have taken the game to a new level by providing full HD displays which is more than 420 PPI, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 for instance.

Last but not least, faster LTE download speed. Internet speed matters for content streaming. Apple says iPhone 6 and Plus use LTE (Cat 4), which can reach a download speed up to 150Mbps. It is certainly a good news if you want to watch some series or videos on the go for iPhone fans. But Apple also shies away from its competitors at this point. Galaxy Note 4 features LTE-A (Cat 6), which provides in theory a download speed of 300Mbps. If you constantly need high speed connection, you need to rethink before you get the new iPhones.
